Inspirations and Ideas...

So here are some scrapbooking ideas for cards I found on Pinterest that I think I could actually achieve.

The idea of just stacking different coloured paper together is simple yet so effective! Patterns are around use everywhere so I would not even have to keep using shop bought scrapbook paper. For the more personal touch I could source the patterns and print them myself. I love the stitching on some of the paper, and if I remember from my days of textiles at school, it isnt so hard to do either. I love the turned up corner stapled down; unfortunatly in this pic it doesnt show the top right hand corner has lined paper underneath it which I thought was a nice touch.

This one is really quite simple again, which I love. I'm forgetting about the spaced out embellishments as I dont have space, and to be honest I think they look a bit pointless. The photograph is quite small but set off by the background paper and the fox button. I love the typewriter doodle at the bottom, which is something I could possibly draw up in Photoshop myself. Love the mutual background then the burst of colour around the photograph.

This last one is probably my most favourite, but I love the way the embellishments draw your eyes into the photograph. The scrabble letters are very in at the moment so that would be right on trend, and the way they've written the word 'love' is something I doodle anyway! The background mash up of the chevron and the lines looks like it has been done on the computer, so I could always do something similar for a more interesting background.

Writing about the ideas I am having has made them more clear and defined in my mind, and I can not wait to get started on my own work! It is rather later now however and I have work tomorrow, but I did buy photopaper before I left work today so I will be making sure my printer is up to the job tomorrow.

I hope you have liked looking at my ideas, feel free to comment with suggestions or opinions or such like :)

P.S Jane and Charlotte loved their loom band creations. I may need another few bags as I'm running out of colours!

Inspirations and Ideas...

So I am a HUUUGE fan of Pinterest and it is amazing for collecting weird and wonderful tips and tricks for all things crafty!!

I have a massive collection of Sharpie markers so I was wanting to use those in some way (I already decorated wine glasses with them for people's christmad presents last year, they went down a storm!) and Pinterest has loads of tutorials for stuff like that. But aside from what I want to do eventually, I have been looking for card making tips. Unfortunatley there are not many pictures that I have come across that shows the exact thing I want to make. In some ways this is a good thing because it means not many people want to do it the way I want to; using heavy use of photogaphy rather than lots of things stuck to a card. However, I somehow got to looking at scrapbooking. Which is something I have no knowledge of myself, other than the craft supplies used to make them (I used to work in a stationary shop), and some of the examples I came across looked very very good, by someone who has probably been doing it years, but they seem a bit too extravagant on a card. Here are some of the ones I spotted which I love myself but a bit too optimistic right now. The photographs and the things they are depicting are not mine, and full credit goes to the artists.

So this first example, although lovely, I think if I were to fit 3 photographs and 3 dividers I would just not have enough room. A plan would be to do 4 maybe? And I would lose the writing on the front, and put it on an insert inside the card. I also think the grey background is rather boring, though the pop of colour in the top 2 cut outs brightens it up a bit.

The one below also has everything quite spaces out which, like the one above, is not space I have on a greetings card. However, the colours go well with the subject matter. I would probably stick a small shell on the front as long as it wasnt too heavy, or a bit of real sand for texture. I do like the quotes, although again I would put the writing on the inside of the card again.

The one below is probably the one that I like the best, but it is far too busy for a card. Again, I dont get the brown and cream colour, looks rather boring considering tehe subject matter here.  But I love the photographs tucked behind each other, the paper clip to give it a rustic, thrown-together look and the small embellishments around the frame of the picture in the bottom left corner.

So those are the ones that got my creative juices flowing and put the idea of simple scrapbooking on the front of a card. I realise that scrap booking is a deeply personal thing, and you want to stick down your own photographs and ticket stubs and napkins, but I think if done properly, this would still be a really creative and personal thing to give to someone on a birthday, or as a note to say you're thinking of them.

Another post with the ones I could actually do though I think!

Not much to report...

It has been a slow day today. I haven't been feeling too grand the past couple of days emotionally but today it has really effected my mood and behaviour. I am a bit disappointed I didn't get more done, however, I got the printer installed on my laptop and got the ink cartridges working. Didn't quite get round to testing out a photograph but I need some proper photo paper anyway so it can wait until after work tomorrow. I also got my Wacom tablet and pen finally working too so that'll make editing a bit easier seeing as I dont have to use the scroll pad.

Jane from my work is lovely, and was admiring the rainbow and black loom bracelet I made. I promised her a green and purple one, then Charlotte said she needed a new extender for her work keys and Jane suggested a loom one. So here is what I just came up with :)

So a little more progress in the way of loom bands but not much else I'm afraid. My friend Becca said our deadline is the weekend for putting stuff we've made online to sell, but I'm not sure I'll make it. Today is day 1 of 7 in a row at work, including all the weekend so I won't have much time, but we'll see what happens!

Tomorrow evening I will be posting some of my inspirations and ideas for you all to have a gander at, as well as what's been happening through the day. Please comment with suggestions or opinions if you like!
